Dry Gravel Garden

Making the most of a sunny, protected area of the garden, this dry gravel garden with a mediterranean style, features a path set in the gravel, leading through a timber arch and on up to a private dining space.  Beyond the arch, the paved dining terrace is enclosed by Italian cypress to provide year round height and structure.

There is a small water feature providing movement and sound with Hakonechloa macra planted around to soften. Similarly, a half standard olive tree adds to the ambience and the grasses and perennials reinforce the mediterranean style. Additionally, new planting in the rear border links the new garden with the lawn and wider garden.

This is a good example of how a specific area of the garden can have a unique design without detracting from the overall flow and style. The space becomes a feature of the garden, creating a point of interest with an additional planting style.
