Combined Front Garden
Mapledurwell, Hampshire
Older properties have often been extended over a long period of time resulting in quirky layouts. My client owns a very pretty cottage and the main garden is situated at the front of the property. The driveway needed to be defined, whilst still being able to appreciate the cottage garden both on the approach to the home and views from the house.
A feature bench provides structure and triangulates the views from the kitchen window through the arch to the bench and planting. Sitting on the bench provides a lovely view to the shady paved terrace with granite water feature and mature Acer palmatum.
The sweeping border encloses the seating with planting and standard roses, allowing my clients to feel they are really in the cottage garden, not just sitting next to the drive.
